HC Deb 06 December 1988 vol 143 c139W
36. Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if his Department has conducted research into the possible effects on the physical and mental health of 16-year-olds of working hours considerably in excess of 48 per week without properly regulated rest periods.

Mr. Nicholls

The Department has not conducted any such research as there is no medical evidence to suggest that young people are less capable of working extended hours than adults.
