To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what international safeguard arrangements exist to cover the shipping of spent nuclear fuel and other material from(a) Torness, (b) Hunterston, (c) Dounreay and (d) Chapelcross, to reprocessing plants.

All nuclear material from Torness, Hunterston and Dounreay is subject to Euratom safeguards and the terms of the United Kingdom—Euratom—IAEA safeguards agreement. Nuclear fuel irradiated in Chapelcross is not subject to safeguards.
