§ Mr. CoxTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what aid projects are at present being discussed with the Government of Tanzania; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Chris PattenWe have just signed a new grant agreement with the Government of Tanzania for £16 million of balance of payments support to help with the implementation of agreed economic reforms. These funds will be used in the agriculture, transport, industry and health sectors.
I have also approved the offer of an £8 million grant as cofinancing for the World Bank's industrial rehabilitation 28W and trade adjustment credit. This will be available as soon as the credit is signed, which I expect will be early next month. In addition to this assistance, my officials are continuing talks on identifying projects for the use of an £18 million project aid grant.
