HC Deb 05 December 1988 vol 143 cc47-8W
Mr. Norman Hogg

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what responses he has received from industry concerning funding of the proposed technology academies in Scotland.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

We have already announced our welcome for the decision by Trusthouse Forte to contribute £1.5 million to sponsor the first technology academy in Scotland.

In addition to this commitment, we have received a number of very positive approaches from the private sector. These are being treated in confidence at this stage.

Mrs. Ray Mitchie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many students who are studying at Scottish universities, central institutions and colleges of education and who are in receipt of an SED award take(a) three years or less to complete their degree, (b) four years to complete their degree, (c) five years to complete their degree and (d) six or more years to complete their degree; and what proportion of female students are in each category.
