§ Mr. GryllsTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what procedures have to be followed should a company, asked to enter into assurances not to buy shares in a particular company following a Monopolies and Mergers Commission refusal to allow a takeover, seek to be released from such assurances.
§ Mr. MaudeThe Director General of Fair Trading will advise the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry on whether undertakings given following a Monopolies and Mergers Commission report should be varied or superseded, in accordance with section 88(4) of the Fair Trading Act 1973.
