§ Mr. MellorWe have played a leading role as a permanent member of the Security Council to bring about a negotiated settlement to the Iran-Iraq conflict. We shall continue to do our utmost to support the United Nations Secretary General in his work to reach a settlement via United Nations Security Council resolution 598 and in such follow-up measures as may be necessary to achieve compliance with this mandatory resolution.
