HC Deb 27 April 1988 vol 132 c156W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, during the recent meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Ministers and Heads of State, on 2 to 3 March, any consideration was given to the issues planned for discussion at the United Nations special session on disarmament, to be held in New York from 31 May to 25 June in terms of their relevance to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's collective security strategy and agreed disarmament goals.

Mr. Mellor

The UNSSD was not specifically discussed at the meeting of NATO Heads of Government in March, but the Alliance keeps its security and arms control objectives under constant consideration, and allies have discussed their approach to UNSSD at official level within NATO.
