HC Deb 26 April 1988 vol 132 c116W
Mr. Paice

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what would be the effect on the United Kingdom intervention price of(a) wheat and (b) barley of a devaluation of the green pound by: (a) 5 per cent., (b) 9 per cent., and (c) to parity.

Mr. Donald Thompson

Feedwheat and barley have the same intervention price of 170.47 ecu per tonne which, at the present green rate, is equivalent to £111.85 per tonne.

Devaluations sufficient to reduce the cereals monetary compensatory amount by the amounts specified and to parity would give the following intervention prices:

  1. (a) £116.99 per tonne
  2. (b) £121.46 per tonne
  3. (c) £127–29 per tonne
