HC Deb 26 April 1988 vol 132 c147W
41. Mr. Chapman

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about the type, amount and geographical position of additional training land needed by his Department, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Chipping Barnet on 22 March,Official Report, columns 110–11.

Mr. Freeman

The principal need is for land for "dry" training, that is training without the use of live ammunition. It is Ministry of Defence policy to seek to acquire such land in any suitable area but preferably where this will allow us to extend existing training areas if and when adjoining land becomes available for purchase.
