To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what incentives his Department offers to service men to purchase their own homes.

The Ministry of Defence is very much aware of the desirability of encouraging service men to purchase their own homes, subject to the Services' operational needs. Details of the current arrangements are given in the pamphlet "Housing: a Guide to Servicemen and Servicewomen", a copy of which I have placed in the Library.
