To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the English electoral quota for 1988–89.

Mrs. Currie

The electoral quota for England—that is, the total electorate divided by the number of parliamentary constituencies — is 69,688 based on the 1988 register.

Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services which are currently the five largest and five smallest parliamentary constituencies showing in each case the number of registered electors on the new registers.
