HC Deb 25 April 1988 vol 132 c69W
Mr. Lawrence

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what further action he is taking to reduce the risk of near misses of airliners in British airspace and at British airports.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Action to reduce the risk of air misses in United Kingdom airspace is a matter for the Civil Aviation Authority. The authority is wholly responsible for aviation regulation and (with the Ministry of Defence) for air traffic management in the United Kingdom. I draw my hon. Friend's attention to the answer given by my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State, to the hon. Member for Leeds, West (Mr. Battle), on 18 April 1988, at columns532–34.
