HC Deb 22 April 1988 vol 131 c593W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Thames Valley police as to whether the late Michael Ryan used firearms possessed by police officers of the Thames Valley police on any occasion.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The chief constable of Thames Valley has no information to that effect.

Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call on a report from the chief constable of Thames Valley police as to on how many occasions the Police Complaints Board had submitted requests for files and papers or information to the chief constable in the course of investigating complaints made into events(a) leading up to and (b) involving the shootings by the late Michael Ryan on 19 August 1987, and as to what response he has made, giving dates on which such material was submitted.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

I understand from the chief constable that the investigation is being carried out under the supervision of the Police Complaints Authority; there is frequent discussion between the investigation team and the authority about the course of the investigation and the evidence to be obtained.
