To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the number of breakdowns in air traffic control computers over the last 12 months; and what were the numbers in the previous 12 months.

The CAA is wholly responsible for all aspects of aviation safety regulation and (with the Ministry of Defence) for the provision and operation of air traffic services in the United Kingdom. The authority says that the number of failures in its two main air traffic control computer systems in the last 12 months and the previous 12 months were as follows:

The figures include the cost of subsistence which is not recorded separately.
