§ Mr. Alan ClarkIn line with our EC and Commonwealth partners, the United Kingdom does not permit exports of computer equipment and other sensitive equipment to South African military, police or security forces; but, in accordance with our undertakings, we neither prevent nor discourage legitimate civil exports of computer technology to South Africa. Under the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act 1986, the United States has imposed a prohibition on the exports of computer equipment to certain entities of the Government of South Africa.
