§ Mr. BaldryTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the progress being made by the National Employer Liaison Committee on stimulating recruitment into the Territorial Army.
§ Mr. FreemanProvision has been made to find the central major publicity campaign recommended by the National Employer Liaison Committee. Preparatory work had already been carried out and planning is now under way, in order to launch the campaign in autumn 1988. Although this campaign is intended primarily to improve the status, and promote public awareness, of not only the Territorial Army, but the other reserve forces, we would hope to see benefits in both recruitment and retention.
