HC Deb 20 April 1988 vol 131 cc497-8W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what proportion of the annual budget for property valuation and revaluation was used over the valuation of Richmond terrace;

(2) whether he will make a statement as to the effect on resources available to the Property Services Agency for valuation and revaluation of property arising from his decision to employ Cluttons to value Richmond terrace.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer 18 April 1988]: Sums for valuation and revaluation of property are made available from resources set aside for expenditure on consultants' fees. Final figures for PSA expenditure on consultants' fees in 1987–88 for the civil estate are not yet available, but the total is expected to be about £56 million. Cluttons' fee for the valuation of Richmond house comprised substantially less than 0.1 per cent. of this expenditure. The effect on resources available to PSA for the employment of consultants was therefore minimal.
