HC Deb 20 April 1988 vol 131 cc437-8W
Mr. Allan Stewart

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how many offices of the Government and their agencies in the United States of America are involved in encouraging investment by United States companies in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Atkins

The encouragement of inward investment from the United States, on a national basis, is the responsibility of the Invest in Britain Bureau of the Department of Trade and Industry. The bureau operates in the United States through the embassy in Washington and the 10 consulates general. In addition the Scottish Development Agency, the Welsh Development Agency and the Industrial Development Board for Northern Ireland have a total of six representative offices in the USA.
