To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to encourage local authorities to find their own schemes for repairing houses designated as defective under the Housing Act 1985.

Of the 50 repair systems for designated house types now licensed by PRC Homes Ltd., six have been commissioned by local authorities, and three more are currently under appraisal. Local authorities are already encouraged to submit their own schemes for licensing, particularly where they possess house types not commonly found elsewhere.
