§ Mr. GummerGovernment expenditure on research and development related to salmon and freshwater fisheries in 1987–88 is estimated at £2 million. Of this amount, £625,000 was expenditure by my Department on work relating to both England and Wales. Expenditure on research and development related to salmon and freshwater fisheries is also incurred by the water authorities and NERC research institutes, but details are not held centrally.
