HC Deb 20 April 1988 vol 131 c457W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on his assessment of the level of human rights abuses in El Salvador including those by both Government and non-Government agencies.

Mr. Eggar

We share the view of the United Nations Special Representative in his latest report that the human rights situation in El Salvador has continued to improve, although there is still room for further progress. We are concerned about the abuses noted by the Special Representative on the part of the guerrillas, including indiscriminate use of land mines, summary executions and kidnappings.
