§ Mr. Nicholas BennettTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy what role his Department is playing in the study and development of wind farms in both the private and public sector; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Michael SpicerMy Department is involved in a collaborative programme with the Central Electricity Generating Board which will include evaluating the public acceptability of wind farms. The programme is expected to cost some £30 million and is expected to involve the establishment of three wind farms in England and Wales and, I hope, at least one in Scotland.
