HC Deb 19 April 1988 vol 131 c407W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any requests for extradition of British citizens deserting from the United States armed forces have been received from the United States Government or its armed forces in the last three years in respect of individuals who did not have dual citizenship.

Mr. John Patten

The total number of requests from the United States authorities for the return of deserters from the United States armed forces during the last three years was three. I now understand that one of these requests was in respect of a British citizen who does not also hold United States citizenship. I regret that the information given in my reply to a question by the hon. Member on 12 April, at column 5, was incorrect in this respect.
