Mr. David Nicholson

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many tax units paid the basic rate of tax only in 1979–80, 1983–84, and for the latest available financial year; what the total revenue received in respect of those units was, in each of the three years; and what percentage this was of total income tax revenue.
