HC Deb 18 April 1988 vol 131 c281W
96. Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has any plans to review the training of justices clerks in the juvenile courts; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

Training is provided for magistrates court clerks in the law, practice and procedures of juvenile courts, and such training is kept under review. Following a recent consultancy study on the future provision for staff training in magistrates courts, a unit is to be set up in the Home Office to promote and co-ordiate systematic appraisal of training needs. This will include training needs of staff working in the juvenile court.
