HC Deb 18 April 1988 vol 131 c306W
Mr. Ian Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment on how many occasions his Department has made use of each of its powers to effect removal of gipsies from unauthorised sites(a) if the local authority has a full number of designated sites and (b) if it does not; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Roe

My right hon. Friend has no such powers. The control of unauthorised camping is a matter for the local authority or the landowner concerned, or in certain cases where public order is threatened, for the police.
