HC Deb 18 April 1988 vol 131 c308W
Mr. Wilson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the amounts and beneficiaries of payments made to date by the Nature Conservancy Council, as a result of developments not taking place on sites of special scientific interest since the inception of the scheme.

Mr. Moynihan

[holding answer 12 April 1988]: I refer the hon. Member to the Nature Conservancy Council's annual reports, copies of which are lodged in the House Library.

The reports contain figures on the numbers and value of management agreements concluded by the Nature Conservancy Council under section 15 of the Countryside Act 1968. Individual agreements are treated as confidential matters between owners and occupiers of sites and the Nature Conservancy Council, and it is not our policy to disclose details. The Nature Conservancy Council has no power to make management agreements under the 1968 Act over land not of SSSI quality.
