HC Deb 18 April 1988 vol 131 c325W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the latest costs in Scotland in the proceedings relating to Anthony Cavendish.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

Proceedings in Scotland in relation to Anthony Cavendish's book "Inside Intelligence" have been brought by the Lord Advocate on behalf of the Government. The costs which have been incurred to date in relation to those proceedings arise from court dues and printing costs and amount to £931.06. These costs do not include any element in respect of the expenses incurred by parties to the proceedings in the nature of fees and other expenses, and liability for their payment will only be known once the proceedings are concluded and when accounts have been lodged and taxed by the relevant authorities.
