§ Mr. WilshireTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take on the recommendations made by Messrs Ernst and Whinney, following its review of the staffing and procedures of local valuation panel officers.
§ Mr. ChopeI have today placed in the Libraries of the House a summary of the recommendations of the Ernst and Whinney report and the Government's proposals for action on them.
The report made a number of useful recommendations for improving administrative efficiency in local valuation panel offices and making more efficient use of staff. The Government accept the majority of these recommendations. Work is already in hand on the introduction of computer systems and a review of staffing will follow.
