HC Deb 15 April 1988 vol 131 c244W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Attorney-General who selected the Law Lords to hear the application for leave to appeal by the six men convicted of the Birmingham pub bombings.

The Attorney-General

In accordance with the usual practice the principal clerk of the Judicial Office, acting under the general authority of the Lord Chancellor, selected the names of the law lords to sit on the appeal committee which considered the application for leave to appeal in the Birmingham pub bombings case.

As a matter of general practice the Lord Chancellor does not intervene in the arrangements for particular law lords to hear particular cases and did not do so in this case.
