HC Deb 14 April 1988 vol 131 c229W
74. Mr. Couchman

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what pay increase a married man with two children on average earnings would need to maintain his real take-home pay unchanged between 1987–88 and 1988–89.

90. Mr. Hayes

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what pay increase a married man with two children on average earnings would need to maintain his real take- home pay unchanged between 1987–88 and 1988–89.

Mr. Norman Lamont

After his income tax reductions, a pay increase of 2 per cent. would be more than enough to maintain his real take-home pay.

89. Mr. William Powell

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer by how much in real terms he expects take-home pay for a married man with two children on average earnings to have risen between 1978–79 and 1988–89.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I expect his real take-home pay to have risen by 27½ between 1978–79 and 1988–89, compared with about ½per cent. between 1973–74 and 1978–79 under the Labour Government.
