§ Mr. MoynihanThe Sports Council's estimates of national business sponsorship of sport, by calendar years, are as follows:
£ million 1985 128 1986 146 1987 164 These estimates are derived from coverage in the press and television and other sources monitored by the Sports Council. They do not include local sponsorship, for which no estimates are available and are therefore likely to understate the true extent of sports sponsorship. They cannot conveniently be broken down into estimates for individual sports.
