To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the cost of(a) decoration and (b) furnishing for 10 Downing street in 1987–88.

In the 11 months up to the end of February 1988, the latest available figures, expenditure during 1987–88 on furnishings and decoration in 10 Downing street was £14,836.15 for furnishing and £11,433.07 for decoration.
