§ Mr. SpearingTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what investigations or inquiries he has made into the financial effects of his recent changes in social security benefits into the following categories of persons who were in receipt of supplementary benefit(a) widows with children of school age, (b) registered disabled persons under pensionable age and (c) mentally handicapped persons.
§ Mr. ScottOverall estimates of the effects of the income-related benefit changes are contained in "Impact of the Reformed Structure of Income Related Benefits," published last October. It is not possible to break down these estimates further into the categories requested. Further information about the effects of the changes will become available in due course through our monitoring arrangments.
