§ Mr. MaudeI welcome current moves by some lending organisations to increase the effectiveness of the role played by the existing credit reference agencies by providing them with full and comprehensive information. The availability of such information should help to ensure responsible lending and minimise consumer over-indebtedness. I have no plans to introduce legislation to establish a national consumer credit register.
