To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) for each year since 1983, what was the number of blood donors in north Staffordshire and the amount of blood collected from them;

(2) how many people have been employed in the blood transfusion service in north Staffordshire in each year since 1983; and if he will make a statement;

(3) whether there are any delays in the collection of blood from donors in north Staffordshire; and if he will make a statement.

I regret we do not hold this information centrally. The hon. Member may therefore wish to write to the chairman of West Midlands regional health authority, which is responsible for the blood transfusion service in the west midlands, for advice on these issues.
