HL Deb 11 April 1988 vol 495 cc966-7WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, following the violence surrounding the recent football match at Wembley between England and the Netherlands, they have any further proposals to counter soccer hooliganism.

The Earl of Caithness

My honourable friend the Minister for Sport holds regular meetings with the football authorities and the police. Measures to combat hooliganism are under continuous review. We deplore the incidents that took place on 23rd March, but I congratulate the police on the effective action they took to ensure that there were no serious incidents.
