asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list for each Welsh local education authority the pupil to teacher ratio for 1978–79, 1982–83, 1983–84, 1984–85, 1985–86, 1986–87 and 1987–88, respectively.

My Department has registered 42 uses of personal data under the terms of the Data Protection Act. Details are contained in the register of data users, a copy of which is available in the Library of the House.

No charge will be made for the provision of information which is presently made available free of charge. In other cases, my Department will recover the costs, which will vary from one data holding to another, of complying with requests for access to data holdings, within the limit of the maximum fee which may be charged.
