§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonNo. The level of travel and subsistence allowances for councillors is reviewed each year as a matter of routine. The views of the local authority associations, as expressed from time to time, are taken into account in these reviews. The Government are at present considering the Widdicombe committee's recommendations on councillors' remuneration.
