§ Mr. Cohenasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is his Department's policy towards fees for subject access under the terms of the Data Protection Act; how many register entries his Department has; and what would be the total cost to a data subject seeking access to personal data held under all register entries.
§ Mr. ButcherMy Department intends to make no charge in respect of subject access requests made by its employees in respect of information that it holds under the Act in its capacity as their employer. For all other requests, including external requests, a fee of 10 will be charged in order to cover the cost of providing the service. This is in accordance with Treasury guidelines on charging.
