HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 cc165-6W
Mr. Wray

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what financial support his Department will be giving to aid research into the medical condition known as TOF (tracheo-oesophageal fistula) which affects one in 3,000 babies in the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Currie

The Department has no plans at present to provide financial support for research into trachea-oesophageal fistula but is always willing to consider well-founded applications for research grants.

The main Government-funded body carrying out biomedical research in this country however is the Medical Research Council, which receives its grant in aid from the Department of Education and Science.
