§ Mr. Andrew Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the estimated cost to public funds of compensation to farmers arising out of the recently imposed restrictions on movement of sheep and lambs in certain areas of Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. ViggersIt is estimated that in 1987–88 the cost of compensation to sheep farmers in Northern Ireland will52W amount to about £50,000. For the present, payments will be met by way of repayable advances from the Northern Ireland Civil Contingencies Fund, and parliamentary approval will be sought for the necessary Supplementary Estimates.
