§ Mrs. Mahonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will provide additional finance for local authorities to enable them to reintroduce intermediate repair and improvement grants.
§ Mr. WaldegraveGrant expenditure at some £400 million a year remains at a historically high level. It is for local authorities to decide how much to spend on grants for repairs and improvements within the sums available to them from their housing investment programme allocation and from prescribed capital receipts.
§ Dr. Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list, for each of the 57 English local 42W authorities currently entitled to make applications far urban programme funding, for each year from 1978–79 to 1987–88 where appropriate (a) the amount of revenue and capital allocations in cash and current prices and (b) the amount of grant paid in cash and current prices.
§ Mr. RidleyI provided in reply to a question by the hon. Member on 30 June 1987, at column64, details of grant paid in current prices. I will write to the hon. Member with updated details and with the further information requested on urban programme allocations.
§ Dr. Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish for each authority in England for each of the three years 1984–85 to 1986–87 their maximum permitted spending under section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972 showing for each authority gross revenue spending, gross capital spending, total gross spending, and net total spending.
§ Mr. RidleyI shall send the hon. Member a print-out showing the available information for each principal council in England (section 137 also applies to all parish councils).
