HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 c19W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on his recent visit to Liverpool.

Mr. Hurd

I visited Merseyside on 1 and 2 October, and again on 21 October. On the evening of 1 October I was a guest at the Merseyside senior police officers' mess dinner. On the following day I visited the police port unit, the main Bridewell and local police stations, and had discussions with the chief constable and senior officers at force headquarters about a range of policing issues. I had useful discussions with members of the Merseyside police authority.

I was pleased to speak at the first of the national crime prevention road shows at Knowsley on 21 October.
