asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the visit to Liverpool on Wednesday 21 October of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Education and Science.

My noble Friend addressed the annual general meeting of the Merseyside Council for Voluntary Service. In the afternoon, as the guest of the local education authority, she visited Millbrook college and South Mersey college, looking in particular at provision for special needs and at open learning. My noble Friend found her visit both stimulating and informative.
