Ms. Harman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the rates of conception (i) inside and (ii) outside marriage, by age of women, in each regional health authority in England in 1985.

Mr. Newton

The table gives the information for England and Wales as a whole. Details of the definitions and methods of estimation used are given in OPCS monitor FMI 87/2. The rates for each regional health authority of England are not available because the annual estimate of the populations by marital status are made only for England and Wales as a whole.
