HC Deb 26 November 1987 vol 123 c290W
Mrs. Ray Michie

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans he has to investigate the use of the chemicals Lindane and Pentachlcrophenol; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholls

[holding answer 9 November 1987]: I have been asked to reply.

Pesticides including those containing Lindane and PCP are subject to the Control of Pesticide Regulations 1986. They can be used only following formal approval based on the advice of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides which reviews the evidence of risk and advises on precautions. The aim of these procedures is to safeguard human health and the environment. The advisory committee is able to review its advice if new information becomes available.
