§ Mrs. RumboldUnder our national curriculum proposals, it will be for schools and teachers to decide how much time to spend on each subject. The essential core and other foundation subjects will not take up all the available curricular space. There will therefore be scope for maintained schools to continue to offer other subjects such as classics to some or all pupils if they wish to do so.
