§ Mr. ScottThe social security reforms which take effect from April 1988 will focus help more effectively on people in the greatest need. Lower paid working families with children will receive more help through the introduction of family credit which we expect to be received by over twice the number presently receiving family income supplement. Non-working families with children, as well as lone parents, disabled people and pensioners will get specific additional help through the premiums in the new income support scheme.
