§ Mr. ClellandTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his reply of 12 November,Official Report, column 208, if he will specify those local bodies or organisations responsible for making decisions on the establishment or otherwise of local refugee councils.
§ Mr. John PattenThere are no local bodies or organisations with a specific responsibility to make decisions about the formation or otherwise of local refugee councils. They can only be established if there is sufficient local support for them. The nature and extent of the support necessary to sustain a council will, however, vary from area to area.
